Mikoto Shinozaki (篠崎ミコト) is the main protagonist of the series, a 1st year student and the third member of the school's cycling club. He is 15 years old. Originally living a quiet boring life and getting bullied daily by the upperclassmen. Until one day when Yuki Fukazawa asks him to join the school's cycling club. Though he rejects this proposal at first as he, due to a childhood trauma he has forgotten, finds bicycles to be scary and thus he also doesn't remember how to ride one. He's a sprinter. Personality Mikoto is best described as hardworking. When trying to impress his crush Yuki by riding the bicycle, he overcomes his fear and works endlessly over and over again to learn. Mikoto dislikes how he currently is and tries to work harder in order to fix his problems and no longer be a burden to anyone. He pushes past his failures to become someone new. Mikoto is also noticeably strange as he does strange things at strange times. This is seen when he just starts exercising when he accidentally tripped in the hallway. Mikoto also has a strange habit of bubbling any type of liquid he has near his mouth incidentally causing him to almost drown. Despite all this Mikoto is an extremely kind and loyal person, sticking with the training of the cycling club and loving Yuki despite her cold attitude to him.

Tour de France, it is the biggest bicycle race in the world. Now, a new achievement is about to be recorded in the history of Tour de France. The top racer is a Japanese boy named Shinozaki Mikoto. 
"Why don't you join our bicycle club?" said Fukazawa, Shinozaki Mikoto's secret love. 
Unfortunately, despite being a high school student, he doesn't know how to ride a bike. With no real idea of what the bicycle club is, he earnestly practices. After he overcomes this challenge, while he pedals along, something that was smoldering in his mind for 15 years ignites. 
"I want to devote myself to bike riding." 
Experiencing failure with his friends and rivals, he pedals towards becoming the top racer.

Shinozaki Mikoto is a timid and short-statured 15-year-old highschool sophomore who often gets picked on at school. The girl whom he admires, Fukazawa Yuki, happens to discover an overwhelming strength of heart behind his shy appearance. In efforts to promote the school's emergent cycling club, she introduces cycling to Mikoto and tries to talk him into joining the club, as she's thoroughly convinced he has a special inner drive that makes him a promising cyclist. How far will cycling take Mikoto, not only materialistically, but in his growth as a person?
