Alisa Bannings is a minor character of the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha series. Best friends with Nanoha Takamachi and Suzuka Tsukimura, Alisa is the daughter of two successful company owners and has plans of succeeding them. Alisa was adapted from the character of Alisa Lowell in Triangle Heart, but besides being a living being, is much friendlier and holds no such grudge against the world.  Alisa is an outspoken, dog-loving Anglophone and multimillionaire heiress. She gets angry at Nanoha halfway through the series for keeping secrets from her friends. Despite this, she cares deeply for her friend. She is a strong-willed person the apparent leader in her small circle of friends. When she has bursts of rage at not fully understanding what's going on, Suzuka is usually there to calm her down. Alisa is proficient with English and loves dogs, owning about ten at her large mansion. Similarly to Nanoha's and Yuuno's first encounter, Alisa found an injuried Arf and took her to be treated in her house under the assumption that the familiar was just a big dog. Nanoha and Yuuno eventually met with Arf at Alisa's home.  In A's, Alisa's role is greatly reduced. Though she takes the lead of helping the new foreign student, Fate, in her integration of Japanese lifestyle, her few on-screen appearances are mostly of her worrying about the fact that Nanoha and Fate are keeping secrets from her and Suzuka. Upon meeting with Arf in her puppy form, Alisa noted that she seemed strangely familiar to her. Alisa and Suzuka are trapped in a magical barrier and bear witness to Nanoha and Fate's battle with Hayate possessed by the Book of Darkness. Later, Alisa, along with the other civilian characters, are let in on the secrets of what Nanoha has been doing all this time. 3rd grader Takamachi Nanoha stumbled upon an injured talking ferret after hearing his telepathic cries for help. The ferret turned out to be Yuuno, an archeologist and mage from another world who had accidentally scattered the dangerous Jewel Seeds throughout Earth. Without the strength to collect the Jewel Seeds, Yuuno had resumed a ferret form and needed someone else to take on the task for him. He gave a red jewel to Nanoha explaining to her with this she could transform and use magic to combat the monsters that threatened them due to the Jewel Seeds. But the monsters are the least of their worries, as Yuuno and Nanoha are not the only ones out to collect the Jewel Seeds.

After the events of the Lost Logia case, Nanoha waits patiently for the day she can reunite with her newfound friend, Fate. Although being an exceptionally powerful mage, Nanoha spends her days normally with her friends on Earth. But peace is once again suddenly shattered, as Nanoha is without warning attacked by a powerful mage. A group of violent mages have been attacking anything with magic power for their own goals. Nanoha and Fate, along with their friends Yuuno, Arf, Chrono and the Space/Time Administration Bureau must once more band together to stop these renegade mages from hurting anyone or anything else. The story line follows Nanoha Takamachi, an everyday nine-year-old Japanese girl. Nanoha's regular everyday life ends when she rescues an injured ferret who reveals himself as a young shapeshifting mage named Yuuno Scrya. An archaeologist from a parallel universe, Yuuno came to Earth to collect a set of twenty-one dangerous ancient artifacts named the "Jewel Seeds" that he first discovered in his own world. Jewel Seeds give living beings who come into contact with them unnatural powers, often turning them into monsters, and Yuuno, injured while trying to collect them, must now rely on Nanoha while he convalesces in ferret form.
