The captain of the 4th Fleet Escort Force's Amphibious Assault Ship UES Wadatsumi. Her birth name is actually Darzana Humeray but her family name was later changed to Magbaredge after being adopted by the Magbaredge family. This was why during the first Earth-Mars war, Lt. Koichiro was not able to make the connection that she is John Humeray's younger sister. During the second Earth-Mars war, she became the captain of the Amphibious Assault Ship UES Wadatsumi and later went on the become the captain of the UFE (United Forces of Earth).

Being the captain of her ship, she has a strong sense of responsibility and always prioritizes the safety of her crew on the ship before anything else. She tends to act strictly but not overly strict to others, showing how she is always focused and serious at all times. She does not seem to have any negative thoughts or prejudice against the Martians and Mars itself.

In 1972, the Apollo 17 mission found a hypergate to Mars on the surface of the moon. Upon landing, astronauts discovered a enchanted utility later referred to as 'Aldnoah', giving the astronauts a status of superiority. Soon, many humans have relocated to Mars, and have adapted to the name 'Martians'. After Princess Asseylum, a royal Martian princess, descends onto Earth in an attempt to create a treaty between both planets, a war breaks out between Earth and Mars, and Martian soldiers begin to descend from the sky, riding steel giants, intent on exterminating humanity.

__Biography:__
Kayano wanted to work in a job that would involve "healing people", leading to initially take up a course at a vocational school. She worked in the beauty industry and became interested in acting after having seen [Aria](https://anilist.co/anime/477/). While attending school, Kayano continued working in the industry and paid for her tuition.

Kayano began working at Pro-Fit in 2010, voicing two supporting characters in the original video animation [Princess Resurrection](https://anilist.co/anime/9159/). In 2011, she voiced [Meiko "Menma" Honma](https://anilist.co/character/40592/) in [Anohana](https://anilist.co/anime/9989/) and received the Best Rookie Actress award for said role at the 6th Seiyuu Awards. Kayano, [Haruka Tomatsu](https://anilist.co/staff/95890/) and [Saori Hayami](https://anilist.co/staff/95869/) performed the series' ending theme "Secret Base – Kimi ga Kureta Mono (10 years after Ver.)", a cover of a song originally sung by the band Zone.
